Notting Hill — Refurbishment of an early Victorian house

MTA won planning permission for a three storey rear extension and roof extension in Westbourne conservation area in Westminster. Delicate negotiations with the planners ensured permission for lower ground floor alterations to relocate a courtyard, with a two storey rear addition above and a mansard roof extension.

The house was fully refurbished and reconfigured with new stairs, bathrooms and kitchen, keeping the traditional character whilst also opening up the lower ground floor for contemporary family life. The elegant Georgian proportions of the existing windows allow natural light to flood into the upper floors and are matched in character with elegant crittall steel doors in the lower ground floor.

The mansard roof extension was carefully modelled to keep the character of the neighbouring buildings. MTA worked closely with the client, their interior designers Covet Noir, and chosen contractor JP Project Management to ensure careful attention was given to details and finishes to achieve a beautiful home.
