Great Fen Visitors Centre

MTA entered the competition for the Great Fen Visitor centre.

Our concept for the building that grew out of the fen, made from earth and reed. The building was designed to float on rammed earth drum, creating a covered area below for people to meet and shelter. The building is elevation to the original level of the fen as recorded in 1851and allows extensive views over the fen.

The visitor centre was designed around the concept of the camera obscura, with a series of screens linked to realtime cameras situated throughout the fen to allow visitors to intimately observe wildlife without disturbing or disrupting.

The building would be built from locally source materials, be carbon neutral and fully recyclable.
