MTA won planning permission for the construction of a three-storey flatted development in Nunhead. The uniquely-shaped plot of land is prominnently located in the junction of two residential roads with varying architectural languages, presenting a unique challenge in balancing the built vernacular to the existing context.
The, presently vacant, site has been empty and disused for years, plagued by fly-tipping and illegal dumping and had been an eyesore and security concern for the local community prior to the developer reaching out to MTA in 2022 with a brief to maximise the site and provide a distinct piece of contemporary architecture.
